Course: Construction and Validation of Health Data Collection Instruments

SLEP shares this relevant online course, beginning September 7, 2026, on surveys, questionnaires and measurement scales.

The Latin American Society for Pediatric Endocrinology (SLEP) shares with its members information about the postgraduate course “Construction and Validation of Health Data Collection Instruments: Surveys, Questionnaires and Measurement Scales”, organized by the Universidad Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires.

The course will begin on September 7, 2026, and conclude on December 7, 2026. It will run for three months, have a total workload of 140 hours and be delivered online through the Universidad Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires Virtual Campus.

The course offers a theoretical and practical approach to determining when an existing data collection instrument should be used, when a local adaptation is required and when a new instrument should be developed because appropriate measurement tools are not available.

Participants will work on the design, adaptation and validation of surveys, questionnaires, patient record forms and measurement scales. The program also addresses reliability, content validity, internal and external validity, bias control, cross-cultural adaptation and the assessment of psychometric properties.

The knowledge developed during the course can be applied both to scientific research involving patients or populations and to the management of healthcare systems and services. It may therefore be particularly relevant to SLEP members involved in clinical research, epidemiological studies, patient registries or health outcomes assessment.

The course is primarily intended for university- or tertiary-level professionals who work or are interested in working in healthcare and have basic knowledge of descriptive statistics. The academic directors are Dr. Adriana Dawidowski and Dr. Ana Gómez Saldaño.
